Chi Gung & Nei Gung

What's the Difference?

CHI GUNG

Chi Gung is a generic term coined around 1950 to include all types of energy
cultivation, and translates as “energy training”.
(Chi = life force or energy, Gung = power or training)

Chi Gung (also spelled Qigong or Chi Kung) is the science of developing and
using the energy of the body. Through our Chi Gung courses you learn the
fundamental processes of moving energy within your body, and in the
environment. Chi Gung is a series of simple exercises which for over tree
thousand years have been used to slow the aging process, heal illnesses and
release stress. In China , millions of people practice Chi Gung daily to
increase their energy - some for greater performance in activities ranging
from work to athletics to sex or martial arts. Chi Gung has been used to
address such varied ailments as migraines, arthritis and fatigue, chronic
fatigue, and many degenerative diseases including cancer. Chi Gung
accomplishes this by opening the body's energy centers and channels,
strengthening and energizing the internal organs, clearing disease causing
energy blocks, and balancing and strengthening the body.

When the Yin and Yang energy flows are vibrant and in harmony the body is
able to heal itself, and remain strong and healthy even in old age

NEI GUNG

Nei Gung the most powerful of the Chi Gung systems means “ Inner skill” and
is the foundation of all Chinese Internal Martial arts, Health Practices,
and Taoist Meditation, and Sexual Practices. Nei Gung activates all of the
bodies energy pathways, opening and closing all the bodies tissues (joints,
muscles, connective tissues, internal organs, glands, blood vessels,
lymphatic pumps, respiratory system, cerebrospinal system, and brain),
while simultaneously effecting a powerful synergy on the
mind, body, and spirit.

These types of energy practices, promote awareness and sensitivity to the
infinite energy flowing through the human body and all life and matter
throughout the universe.

Course Curriculum

Dragon and Tiger Chi Gung - Level I

Dragon and Tiger Chi Gung is an ancient practice of restorative movements
originally developed in China 1,500 years ago to maintain the health of
Shaolin temple monks practicing strict meditation regimes. Dragon and Tiger
combines Buddhist Chi Gung and Taoist Nei Gung energy mechanics. The system
comprises seven movements that cultivate energy flow through the body's
outer meridian lines in order to strengthen, balance, and store subtle
energy in the body.

Dragon and Tiger is an excellent introduction to internal practices. It is
easy to learn, and provides tremendous health benefits when practiced
regularly, especially for healing degenerative diseases. At advanced
levels, this set can produce immense muscular strength, and responsiveness,
coupled with integrated body movement and flexibility.

Dragon and Tiger quickly gives rise to a recognizable feeling of energy
inside the body.
Recommended for beginners.

Dragon and Tiger Chi Gung were used in Chinese hospitals for the treatment of
cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Eight Pieces of Brocade - Level I

Eight gently exercises which gently stretch all of the body's tissues,
especially, the joints, spine, and organs in order to restore the natural
elasticity and movement inherent in the body. Opening the body in this
fashion develops and strengthens the energy flows to promote longevity and
heal injuries and trauma to the body, emotions and mind. Continued practice
will cultivate and store the energy of the body while developing Nei Gung (
inner skill), for manipulating, absorbing and projecting ones Chi or
Energy.

Opening the Energy Gates of your Body - Level IB
Part I of a 5 part set

This water technique of dissolving negative energy blocks will broaden your
understanding and ability to free the energy in your body for better health,
greater flexibility and deeper meditation. In this introductory course,
you'll learn a standing meditation practice which develops the downward flow
of energy, while also learning to use your mind to release pain and tension
from your body. Here you will also learn the cloud Hands exercise - three
swings and the spine stretch - which makes apparent all of the fundamental
body alignments and many of the Bio-Energetic components necessary for
maximum energy flow and efficient movement of the body, for use in movement
systems from Tai Chi to dance to sports, and combat skills.

Marriage of Heaven and Earth Energy - Level II
Part 2 of a 5 part set

This wood element, one movement exercise looks deceptively simple on the
outside, yet on the inside it focuses on many internal processes, including:
1) the micro and macro cosmic circulation of energy; 2) stretching all the
muscles, tendons and ligaments; 3) opening and closing all the joints and
body cavities at will without depending on muscles which weaken with age;
4) spinal breathing; 5) absorbing and emitting healing energy from the
hands.

Spinal Chi Gung “Bend the Bow and Shoot the Arrow” - Level III
Part 3 of a 5 part set

This Chi Gung set known as Bend the Bow and Shoot the Arrow, puts a spring
in your spine that most people have not experienced since they were
teenagers. You literally transform your entire body into a powerful pump,
centered at your spine. This Chi Gung works directly with the energy of the
spine to; 1) heal and strengthen the back and neck; 2) develop the Chi of
the spine 3) control the movement of each individual vertebra; 4) build
the energetic pumps of the spine, increasing the flow of cerebral-spinal
fluids; and 5) link the physical and energetic movements of the internal
organs to the spine and all the joints. Especially recommended for people
with back problems and martial artists.

Spiraling Energy Body Chi Gung - Level IV
Part 4 of a 5 part set

This fire element/technique of energetic practice adds new dimensions to the
skills developed in Opening the Energy Gates.” You will learn techniques
for; 1)bringing the energy of the Earth up through your body; 2) creating
spheres of energy in the primary energy centers; 3) mobilize Chi along the
spiraling pathways in the body; 4) neutralizing and transforming negative
energy entering you body; and 5) stopping the projection of your own
negative energy.

Gods Playing in the Clouds - Level V
Part 5 of a 5 part set

This is one of the oldest and most powerful Taoist rejuvenation methods. It
contains all the internal processes of the previous four Chi Gung courses
and is the foundation for all the Taoist Meditation, healing, sexual, and
moving practices (Tai Chi, Ba Gua, Hsing I). Plus: 1) washing the energy
of the bone marrow; 2) opening the energy of the brain and energizing the
brain core; 3) cleaning the emotional body of negative energy, providing
emotional uplift; and most importantly 4) opening the knot in the spiritual
body.

Philosophy of Healing Effects
Many diseases and health problems are the result of energy flows within the
body being impeded or blocked. The regular practice of Tai Chi and Chi Gung
are designed to release these blockages and restore balanced energy flows.
When the Yin and Yang energy flows are vibrant and in harmony the body is
able to heal itself, and remain strong and healthy even in old age. The
Chinese have been using these systems for centuries to promote longevity and
heal injuries and trauma to the body, emotions, and mind. Tai Chi and Chi
Gung are famous in China for facilitating the healing of injuries,
especially joint, and spinal problems, arthritis, organ problems, poor
digestion, and many degenerative diseases. Recent medical studies are
documenting the known healing aspects of these arts.

**************************************************************

The practices of Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Gung contain the secrets of Energy
Cultivation, the ability to store, manipulate, absorb, and project energy.
They are powerful foundational practices for Taoist Meditation, Sexual
Practices, Martial Arts, and Health & Healing.

New students will find themselves gaining quickly in physical strength and
health, flexibility and balance and increased mental clarity and focus.
Longer-term practitioners may develop enhanced energetic and psychic
abilities. The study of any of these disciplines will help develop greater
peace, tranquility, and compassion, while deepening spiritual awareness.

The study of Tai Chi and Chi Gung endows practitioners with increased
physical and energetic strength while developing the ability to remain
relaxed, centered, and grounded, in all types of situations. The ability to
remain centered creates an increased awareness of the energies, emotions and
mental thoughts of the immediate environment. Increased energetic power
(from their practice) allows manipulation of these energies for healing
(self and others), meditation, martial arts, sexual practices, and
protecting oneself psychically. The increased physical and energetic
strength afforded by their practice also helps prevent physical, emotional
and mental, burnout.
